I was wondering what ya'll think I could run for a 1500. My background: I'm a sophomore in college, I came in my freshmen year with absolutely no summer base after missing my senior year of track and most summer base due to multiple stress fractures. My (then) coach ran me 50 miles a week and I mustered a 29:30. Trained during the offseason, but took most of christmas break off. During track, I never ran over 40 miles per week, and we would do all of our "recovery" runs no slower than 6:20 pace. I ran 1:57 800 and a 4:03 1500 that season. This summer, I trained my ass off the first month then lost motivation. I trained for a week, then took off a week from lack of motivation. I came in weighing 172 pounds and ran 22:29 at our first 4 mile race. We have a new coach who has us on the Jack Daniels' program and I have dropped the weight down to 162 and have ran 50 miles a week consistently, 90% of it on grass and no injuries. I have ran 27:30 all year.
I plan on staying motivated throughout the winter and get a solid base. If all goes well, what do ya'll think I could run. I would like to run a provisional time for the 1500, last year it was 3:54. Based on what I did last year with racing my recovery days to this year where I am injury free and getting the most out of my workouts thanks to the easier recovery days, do ya'll think a 3:54 1500 would be too much to hope for? If so, what do you think would be realistic?
(I know track season is still a long ways off, but I just can't help but think about it).
Thanks
