I just read the blog and the comments. I was shocked that Kevin Hanson lends his support to your opinion. I guess that someone that is not just a miler adds some credibility.

You're not much of a person if your idea of a good argument is "Do you know who I am?" What's a good reason for lowering the standard? Sure, guys who give everything they have to meet a 2:20 qualifying standard aren't going to be in contention. So what? They're not hurting anything, are they? There are people at the Olympics every year who don't have a chance of competing for a medal, but they're there to represent their country. They earned the right to run, and they're running. What's the big deal?
Also, I don't care how fast you are. The fact that you think it makes you a better or smarter person makes me think you're a douche bag. If you think your side of an argument is correct, why not back it the hell up with some kind of logic, not just a stuck up reply about how great you are.

But of course. You've been doing that show "New Sounds" on WNYC for years and years. Keep up the good work, Schaefer.
I was surprised to see kevin hanson agree with Schiefer on his reply post.
You would think a Hanson's athlete would be all for the 2:22 standard.
You don't think that's just Kevin recognizing that this Schaefer guy is a little depressed and desperate for attention and agreeing with him out of pity? "Look at me! Do you know who I am?? I'm the Al Gore of running websites, the inventor, the creator, there at the big bang beginning! And now I'm getting ready to start up a new running website and resume my position at the top of the heap, because of course everyone will flock to my site - I mean, it's me, how could anyone resist?"
