Can he do it? How many long distance runners have won gold 12 years apart?

Will this thread survive another 12 months?!
He could but that's easy to say. I certainly hope that he does. About a 25% chance. He might get injured before then. If he gets to the start line in great shape then I would say about a 40% chance. This is a high % for a marathon (unpredictable event) but the GOAT deserves it. It would be a great sign if he can go sub 27 again in Hengelo at the age of 35.
I think Nurmi's were 8 years apart so Haile will be attempting to create even more history.
35years old... hmm....

What about Carlos Lopez?
He was 20 when he won the 10,000m world championship in 1993. Why is that hard to believe?
I would find it harder to believe that he was 23 then and you therefore have a 37 year old running a 2:04.26 marathon.
Which is more logical?
I know about Carlos Lopes but 2:07 is a different level to 2:04.
