You will be snowed in, stay away! Never even come visit!
I was there many (many) years ago and they had a very nice 220y dirt track in the fieldhouse. I could easily see dropping a two-hour run on that track. I imagine the surface is different now, however...
I was just in the Flag, and thought it was a sad, depressed place. Check it out before you commit.
Think temps like Duluth and snow depths like, well like Flagstaff with no snowplows. If you take up snowshoeing you should be OK. It is only temporary.
Flagstaff gets 100 inches of snow most every winter with some much worse.
I don't think Flagstaff winters are bad at all (lived here for 5 years!). Most of the snow that comes melts off by the afternoon, of course you have to watch yourself on some trails because they get muddy or stay frozen, but its not bad at all. The mornings are really cold, but with a 30-40 degree temp swing, the afternoons are more than bearable. It is a great place to train and if it ever gets bad up here, Sedona is only 30 minutes away and usually always dry there.
i visited flagstaff this summer while touring on my bike. that place is AMAZING. definitely gotta be one of the best places in the country to run. just an insane amount of trails. although from talking to people they did say theres a lot of snow in the winter and so i would think runinng would not be too good then.
ask any local, it is terrible here in the winter and summer. you don't want to move here. stay where you are at.
