Probably more like 80-90 seconds faster at sea level, this course is ridiculous.
sjc, as both you and I know, Harkrader very well may be "the answer."
Clearly there's no set in stone conversion for a cross country meet given all of the variables--weather, running surface, topography, differing response to altitude etc,--but I can certainly imagine a number of people running about 10 secounds faster pre mile on a comparable sea level course.
Also, yes, it was a bummer not seeing Adams or CSU there.
for an average course 60 seconds. for a faster course 80-90 seconds.
i would not be surprised if vaughn ran 23:30 at pre nats.

It depends on how well those people adapt to altitude. Plus, the team was running competitively and not everyone was all-out, certainly not Vaughn.

I would concur. I could easily imagine myself running about 9-minute pace on the CU Course, only to blaze by my astonished competition at sea level at 8:45-8:50 pace. Insane.
Seriously, Vaughn and Pifer will be in the 23:30-23:40 range at Pre-Nats and we'll see if those other guys can be the real deal.
C.Harris apparently ran 25:50 at Willamette, despite an illness. Good for him, huh?
Of course, by those "other guys" I am refering to Neuman, Medina, Tebo, Janson, and Harkrader-assuming Wetmore puts him in the collegiate race.
CSU routinely skips this meet. AFA does, too, as they send a B team if they go at all. Adams made their choice, I'd imagine it's because they get tired of facing Western so much throughout the season.
Oh Porterhouse, look at the wax build up on these shoes I want that wax stripped off there, then I want them creamed and buffed with a fine chamois, and I want them now! Chop chop!
And then the football team beats Oklahoma. Good day for CU athletics.
nice shots - thanks for posting them and the fine reporting.
Well I was at the race this morning. It was cool and breezy. The course was not in great shape with more loose rocks than in years past. The grass sections were all cut pretty short.
In past years under varying weather a time of 25:30 or better will have you earning ALL-American status in DI if you are a CU runner (i.e. peaking at the right time of year)
Torres is the course record holder in something like 24:11 to give you an idea of what a great time would be. Goucher used to have the record.
Did I miss Aislyn Ryan for CU?
No, you didn't. Neither she nor Barringer competed today.
Off topic, but why is "rediculous" so often spelled incorrectly?
On topic: Good day to be a Buff - football team beat #3 Oklahomo.
Yes sir, Judge, right away!
And let's talk football too! Go Buffs!
