To an extent they did, LAX is in the D2 race
LaX is only in DII for chicks, not dudes. They've been putting the UWL girls (and other assorted college teams) in the DII race for a couple years now. This is the first year that the men's race has been separated like this. Personally, I think that blows. I ran @ Griak for UWL a couple times and we were basically always in really close competition with the best DII teams.
I say two thumbs down. Bad form...bad form.
I'm pretty sure the LAX girls are in the DIII race, as are 3 DIII teams that are ranked ahead of them.
Women's Maroon III
Augsburg, Benedictine, Bethel, Carleton, Carroll, Carthage, Concordia (Wis.), Concordia Moorhead, Crown, Dana, Gustavus Adolphus, Hamline, Hope, Iowa Central CC, Lakehead, Lawrence, Luther, Macalester, Milwaukee School of Engineering, North Central (IL), North Central (MN), Northland, Northwestern, Oberlin, Ottawa, Ripon, St. Benedict, St. Catherine, St. Norbert, St. Olaf, St. Scholastica, St. Thomas, Simpson, Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Wisconsin-La Crosse, Wisconsin-Platteville, Wisconsin-River Falls, Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Wisconsin-Stout, Wisconsin-Superior, Wisconsin-Whitewater, United Tribes Tech, Washington (Mo.)
This is straight off raceberry jam...don't know why there is a discrepancy.
Women's Maroon II 6K, 9:45.
Augustana (S D), Bemidji State, Bison Track Club, Black Hills State, Central Missouri, Concordia (Neb.), Concordia (St. Paul), Grand View, Huntington, Indiana Wesleyan, Jamestown, Lake Superior State, Lewis, Manitoba, Mary, Michigan Tech, Minn State Mankato, Minn State Moorhead, Minnesota-Duluth, Minot State, Nebraska-Kearney, North Dakota, Northern Michigan, Northern State, Nwest Missouri State, Pittsburg State, South Dakota, St. Cloud State, Wayne State Coll, Winona State, Wisconsin-La Crosse
There were 52 men's team in the the race last year, that is why they split it up. It was just to big. And the women's race coaches choose which race they want to run in. Any team can move up, LAX just chooses to.
Yeah, personally I think they should run it like they run the high school races... in the midwest, there is not a difference talent wise between DII and DIII
