i've seen so many explanations and causes of shinsplints that i've lost track .Never had it myself, must have run
1100 races including 50 odd marathons and a couple of long trails.Used to train 180k a week over a 5 or 6 year period,
don't do much stretching (a bit of general strength work yes, assuming dying swan positions for half an hour before and after every run NO).In 30 odd years of running in which
i suppose my total mileage would equate to running round the earth about 5 or 6 times, i've had one bout of
Achilles tendonitis that kept me out about 6 weeks and one rotulian tendon attachment inflammation that required
a bit of physio and eventually some magnets to heal up,sidelined me for a month or so.If you're prone to some injury or other you'll get it, if you're not you probably won't. I've heard that too much soda is a big no no for
shin splint prone people.Phosphorous blows away the calcium or something like that.
