If a 140 pound male runner is running 14 miles/day how many clories is he burning in a whole day? Including running and everyday life.

If you scroll down the page, ignoring the prices for someone to tell you what to eat, you can plug in a few values & get a rough idea. Read the instructions carefully or you'll end up with a totally bogus amount...
Accoring to some info I've found, it comes out to about 100 calories per mile for a 150 pound male. The more you weigh and the faster you run the more calories you burn, but it doesn't make a big difference unless you're running race effort or close to it. I know most sources will tell you young males burn 2500-3000 calories without even running and that running will add another 800-2000 calories a day, but I know I don't burn anywhere near that much, and I'm 160, running 70mpw. I'm trying to lose weight and have found I don't lose weight unless I'm eating less than 3000calories a day and I'm pretty active even without running. I have a friend though who probably eats 5000 calories a day and he's skinny, so it just depends.
I agree with the 100 cal per mile figure. I also follow that for those in their 20's and beyond, that caloric needs can be figured roughly by taking your weight and multiplying by 10 to get a base. So 150 lbs person would be 150 x 10 = 1500, so 1500 cal per day as a base. If you work at a job where you sit for more than 4 hours a day add 200. If you sit for 1 to 4 hours add 400, and if you don't sit, add 600.
For the average office working person, that would then be 1500 + 200 = 1700 calories per day.
Now add in your running at 100 calories per mile per day. If you are running 70 miles per week, you'll need to add 1000 calories per day to stay at your 150 lbs. So 2700 calories per day. If you lift weights, you'll need more calories, but I don't know that calculation yet.
why are so many distance runners anorexic or basically have an anorexic mindset?
