It hurts like hell, but if running won't make it worse then I'll give it a go. Anyone have experience with this?

I had that happen a few years ago and I simply couldn't take the pain. I was in the pool for 4 weeks. I ran with it a few times and it got worse and worse.
yes, you see I was a man and played some touch football with a few frat assholes in college. I didn't sissy up and don pads.
So I take a hit, have one rib dislocated, another chipped, and ran a 3:49 1500 with it the next day.
To this day its one of the most manliest things I've ever done.
So man up sissy boy, and grow a pair.
I fractured a rib last spring, 8 weeks before my first marathon. I had the whole right rib cage taped by an athletic trainer (~for 2 weeks) and iced and e-stimmed it 20 min./day. I was able to continue training at 100+ mpw, but I could only run easy with nothing beyond a 7:30/mi. pace. About 2-3 weeks before the marathon, I felt better and did a little bit of harder stuff, but nothing beyond about a 6 min./mile.
I maintained fitness and ended up running the marathon in 2:48+, which was just off the women's Olympic Trials qualifier of 2:47!
Anyways, we originally thought I had separated it from the muscle tissue, but the x-ray confirmed otherwise (you should get it x-rayed if you haven't). I definitely believe it's possible to train with a rib injury, as long as you modify your training (run easy!) to allow it to heal. Then again, everyone's tolerance of pain may be different.
