I remembered him saying that pagens, the ACLU, and abortionists allowed 911 happen. I didn't recall him blaming gays too.
Those types of remarks are not taken seriously by anyone I know. I guess they do have a following though and that should be of some concern. How often do you run into someone who would agree with that statement?
