New runner,
How old are you?
What is your height/weight?
16:34 for a 5k for a newbie is quite impressive. Almost too impressive that I may call TROLL on you.
YOU didn't.
i didnt what? i swear on wahtever you use to swear on that i did.
I'm averaging a steady 70 mpw, and I'm still 4 mins away from a 32. So, if you have my talent level, you may need 250 mpw.

New to running and want to run around 31-32 mins for 10km in the next year. What type of mileage would I need to be putting in for me to achieve my goal.
I ran 31:45 off of 85 miles a week. It depends on your speed and talent though. I had little of both. I ran 15:12 for 5k but won't mention my mile times... they are slow. You need high volume track workouts... you are talking track 10K right? You need to run 7Xmile workouts starting just over 5:00 min. for the first few and finishing the last few around 4:55-4:45 to get closer to 31:00... 5:00 pace is 31:15.
5ft 10 and weigh 154 pounds. My aim is both to run under 32 on road or track no preference 10km is a good distance for me not to far or short. I ran 16:45 5km 2 weeks ago winner ran 15:23 incidentally. At the moment I dont think Im to far from running 36min for 10km in a race as I ran my normal 6 miler preety much as hard as I could lastnite in just under 37mins. My non running friend went alongside on his mountain bike. Training will be at 35 miles for the week if I count my treadmill running at the gym.
