hell of a comeback...that is what playoff teams do! Go Cubbies!
I am a true Cubs fan. was there in 2003, when they came close. there in 2004, when the lost the wild card in the last week. I think this team has a lot of talent, and they've been playing like a cohesive unit since July.
I am in CA, and whish I was living back in Chicago.
But let me tell you, if they make the playoffs against San Diego or L.A., I am there. Another NLCS...or dare I say WS, I am taking off of work, and flying home!!!!
In Sept 2003, I was living in NYC, but thinking of moving home, and seriously the Cubs winning the NL Central that year, helped me move home ASAP.
The Brew play San Diego. With Philly and L.A. close to San Diego, the Padres will fight untill they clinch the wild card, which could come down to the last day or two. I just hope the CUBS clinch at the same time the wildcard is won (if not sooner).
GO CUBS!!!!
Man they were FIRED UP when this one ended... they've got GAME ! Go Cubs !
Brewers play 13 straight w/o a day off. Cubs have 11 games in 13 days. Cubs have the Mo! Cards got the Dough last year, but no mo now, they are dead. Brewers have the tougher road, with tougher schedule and no rest days.
walking ward to get to a guy who has 9 hits in his last 9 ABs against the reds? haha! yes! D-Ro! What a game!
I thought they would walk the bases loaded. I can't believe the center fielder missed the Aramis hit...not that it was easy but he coverd so much ground that would have been an awesome catch!
I can't wait to riot when the Cubs win! I am tearing down Murphy's across from the bleachers since I have spent so much money there this year!!!
Dude, my high school team could win the NL Central....Go Reds!!!
The Brewers are going to take it. With Sheets back in the line up and gallardo pitching as well as he has, I wouldn't be one bit suprised to see the brewers take the division.
Fielder and Braun could be the best 3,4 in baseball.
Although neither of them can play the field. Maybe they can move to the AL where Braun can DH. I'd like that, actually, as a Cubs fan!

of late they have been 2,4 but Utley and Howard?
Brewers tied w/ Cubbies again as of tonight. This is the beginning of the inevitable slide by the Cubs. They will choke, as they always seem to do...
Why would anyone care who wins the national league pennant?
The Indians will crush whoever gets to the world series to win their first title since 1948.
Sabathia and Fausto = 4 wins.
Indians vs Cubs in the series, now that'd be something else. I'd love it.
The last 2 series for the Brewers are at home (Cards, Padres). Last 2 series for Cubs are away (Marlins, Reds). The Brewers play great at home & crap away, so even though they play tougher teams at the end they'll will have a little relief that they're home. Cubs could have trouble those last 2 series with teams that have nothing to lose.

The indians play even better at Miller Park. They won 67% of their games there this year.

Why go into a cubs thread and talk about the Indians? You're the kind of person that goes into a Webb thread and talks about Ritz, aren't you? If you want to talk about the Indians, knock it out in a different thread.
GO CUBS!!!
one game up. Thank you Houston for coming from behind to win.
day off for cubs. let's see what Mil does against Atl

Astute observation!
baseball sucks.

3. baseball
baseBALL is for the gays.
No,no,no,no,no,no, NO!!! I did not just see someone imply that Steve Traschel was a good pitcher.Last two seasons combined: 131K/152BB !Holy hell that's bad. While you're at it you might as well call Al Leiter out of retirement to round out your starting four and bring Jose Lima in to close.Lilly and Zambrano are shaky enough as it is. Adding Trachsel does not give them anywhere near a "great offering", even against a lineup of one-eyed Brad Ausmi* Rich Hill is a much, much better option as their #3 starter. And yes, they do have a shot if their solid but inconsistent pitchers all get hot at once.*pluralized form

The way their starting pitching has been, they can do it if they make it to the playoffs. Lilly, Traschel and Zambrano give them a great offering for a short series. People forget that the Cardinals only won 83 games last year and got hot at the right time.
As a cards fan, I would love nothing more than to see the cubs suck a fat one down the stretch. that being said, they look better than the brewers to make the playoffs; Zambrano, lily, and hill should be enough to carry them in. Of course, when the going gets tough IN the postseason, the firey zambrano will probably find a way to get overanxious and piss it all away.
As for the cards getting hot at the right time last year, that definitely was part of it. However, looking back on it, you'd be hard-pressed to pick any other playoff team that had better pitching than us last year. Pitching gets it done, and that's why the cubs have a shot. They need to get soriano and his pathetic obp out of the top of that line-up though. He's a rally killer.
