I live in the Northeast (Pa.) At this time of year, on early morning runs -4:30 a.m., I see a very bright star (object) in the Northeastern sky, just above the horizon.
Is this a planet? - possibly Mars, or Venus?

Sounds like Mars - try this website to confirm it, you can fine tune it and find out what's on the horizon at a given time and date.
Up here in the northeast, Venus is pretty bright in the northeast sky in the 5 a.m. area. That's likely what you're seeing. Mars is more in the southeast at that time of day (night). Venus isn't as close to us as Mars is, but is bigger and is gaseous so it does a great job of reflecting light, making it pretty bright.
Sounds a lot like Venus, which is usually very bright at dawn and/or dusk. Mars has a red tint to it, Venus does not.
You're on the F***ing internet. Look it up yourself!!!!!
Buddy, you can't tell the future by astronomy so why you even screw with this zodiac stuff is beyond me.
hmmmm
Maybe Venus or Sirius?
uh,...jean?? Your comment would be about ASTROLOGY. The qustion was about astronomy. You'll be more interesting if you learn the difference.

Right over your head, huh Buddy.
Thanks for the help - the online sky maps aren't terribly easy to orient from a positon on earth - at least for me.
It is indeed Venus - incredible again this morning...too bad I sent my 7th grader to school with bad information - hope his science teacher isn't up to snuff and he buys the fact that the boy is seeing Mars.
If Jeanne Dixon is good enough for Ronnie Raygun, she's good enough for me.
it could be Cirrius (serious). Although, in your neck of the woods it might be further south in the sky. Its a white dwarf that showed up about 8-9 years ago. Worth checking out.
Well, if you explore the area of Uranus, you might be able to see a black hole . . .
-- Google Earth now includes Google Sky, where you can check out what's visible above from anywhere on the planet.
-- my cousin's boyfriend was Jean Dixon's ghostwriter back in the late eighties/early nineties. Really. As I remember, my cousin said that he pretty much made the stuff up.
I spelled it wrong. Try Sirius. More info at NASA.org.
If it's not Cirrius, perhaps its XM...?
