There are hundreds of banned substances and it appears from what I have read that they have specifc tests for specific drugs.
Am I correct in this assumption that there would be a seperate test for HGH, EPO , Other steroids , Amphetimines etc. How many tests are there and do they only test for a sample of these?
so combined with other factors, mathimatically what are the real chances of actually catching someone who is guilty?
If you have taken a banned substance and the test is done correctly you will get caught.
How many tests do they do on one sample? Or do they have one test that will identify all the different possible drugs?
Is their a certain amount of guess work involved? If the guy is a distance guy then they test for only for distance type drugs EPO etc..
I am curious to see if the war on drugs can realistically ever be won or will the probability of catching people get lower and lower because the number of tests they have to do to catch people gets higher and higher as new drugs get developed, not to mention the complexity involved if athletes are able to avoid testing at crucial periods.
If the drug is on the list of banned substances then you will get caught if they test you.
Don't be ridiculous. There are people out there who use masking agents which are probably more advanced than we can imagine, and an extremely small number of false negatives.
People do take banned substances and don't get caught, unfortunately.
So I assume:
a)You know nothing about the drug testing procedure.
b)If you do, you probably confirm my suspicion that the probability of actually getting caught is small.
What about derivatives of existing drugs like in the case of "HGH" which was only detected after a syringe was sent to WADA? I mean if you are so confident in the testing procedure why were these guys not caught?
Do they even test for masking agents or other suspicious substances or do they only test what is on the list?
