What is the "statute of limitations" for using the word "am/is" versus the word "was" for refering to one's pr's? When people claim their times and say "I am a 4:03 miler" or "I am a 29:10 10K guy" how long are you allowed to claim such times as being "am" versus "was?" For example, "Is" Bob Kennedy a sub 13:00 5K runner or "was" Bob Kennedy a sub 13 5K guy. This is not to bash Kennedy at all since he is the best American distance runner to come around in a very long time, but it is just an example off the top of my head. Does it depend on how long ago the time was or if you are still in shape or on the come-back trail. Does it depend on age, such as a 24 year old person not long out of college might still claim college pr's from 2-3 years ago but a is 28 year old claiming a 3 year old pr different? Just something I was thinking.
