What is the Official difference in these 2? I don't get the impression that in Mountain running that they just run up a mountain and back down and that is the entire race
What is the Official difference in these 2? I don't get the impression that in Mountain running that they just run up a mountain and back down and that is the entire race
Mountain running generally takes place on a actual mountain. The courses are rugged, vary greatly in incline/decline and distance, and are often at altitude. It is like racing on a trail you might only think about taking a hike on due to the terrain...it's not fast but tough.
Cross Country is generally on well groomed courses(golf course, smooth trails) and is often a set distance such as 5k, 8k, 10k etc. Is is easier to run faster due to the smoother, flatter terrain.
