I'm going to Mackinaw/ Mackinac Island in Michigan for a few days. Anyone know some good trails or routes?

The Mackinaw peaches!
It's MackinaC Island, the MackinaW Bridge & MackinaW City, for clarification.
On the island, there is quite a network of trails, some used by horses. Pick up a map at the info booth in the center of town on the main street. It should show all roads & trails. You'll have to travel inland (north) about one mile before finding the first trail. As my running has wound down, I've spent far more time mtn biking the trails and can go over an hour w/out repeating. It's impossible to get lost...after all, you'll eventually come out on a paved road or a bluff or edge of the island. You'll have to watch your footing at all times...and you'll be struck by the lack of wildlife.
When running through town, if you see a puddle go around it, because it's probably not water.
Mackinac Island was the second location in the United States, after Yellowstone, to be designated a national park.

MackinaC Bridge. Geesh. It turns 50 in early Nov.
When you take your run around the island, leave town heading toward the bridge side when it is totally dark just before sunrise. Then you see the bridge all lit up in the darkness which is cool. And if you're not too fast, you should be making the other side of the island just about sunrise which is also a treat.
As others have said, the 8.8 road around the island is AOK, but can get a tad busy with bicycles. Instead, go UP into the interior of the island and explore the many trails through the woods. Beautiful, and no one there.
the summer i worked on mackinac was the best summer of running i ever had. the trails on the northeast side of the island were my favorites. i always ran in the evenings and there were no people, animals or insects. the tranquil bluff trail on the back of the island i remember as gorgeous and felt really isolated, high above the road. it's great running there, but you could probably run most of the island, trails and roads, in a weekend of 8-12 mile runs.
Scott, I'm surprised at you
