Also noteworthy, Webb is now faster than Krummenacker in the 800M.

He has the "Pre" mentality.
By the way, does anyone have his 400 meter splits?
i thought the Pre mentality was to kick ass in eugene, then lick ass in europe.

Fastest 800 time this year and fastest 1500 time this year of the guys running the 1500 at World's. He has the strength to get through the heats, and the speed to crush then in the final. So long as he doesn't trip, get injured he's gotta bring home a gold. Wow. 1:43, 3:30, 3:46 and a 27:34 is absolutely amazing. Dare I say he has the potential to medal at 800m as well as 1500?
sorry where does this rank him all-time on the US and world lists?
you guys are OUT OF YOUR MINDS if you don't think he's doping. grow up.
I guess it will take something like the house cleaning that cycling is starting up to convince some of you morons.
A 3:53 mile in high school suggests otherwise. This kid has off-the-chart talent, and he is only now fulfilling his potential.
Wow. Much respect. This guy is on fire.
yes, this is a huge, nearly 2 second pr in the 800m. but his performance drop at 1500m and mile showed he was in tremendous shape and like I said before this race, I could not figure out why he had never run much faster at 800m before, given his hs speed and strength. This was just waiting for him to recover that speed and to get into a fast race. I don't think that he had ever been in an 800m with the winner under 1:45 before. He was due for this for a long time. He ran 1:47.7(?) in high school.
Yes, I think that a previous poster said it best. How many high schoolers have the wheels to go 2:10 and then negative split 1:52 in a 1600m in a high school state final? Think about this one for a minute. Obviously Webb has wheels. I personally think he can run 1:42 maybe even 1:41 in an ideal race. This was an ideal race. All you Webb-haters, go do some speed work - but that's just it...if you don't have the god-given fast twitch to at least run a 23 200m...
you need to see that it's obvious he could have been professional his senior year in high school, like Jim Ryun.
Do you think Ryun was doping?
Didn't Seb Coe run 1:41 and change?
two things this race proves:
1) Alan Webb has the talent to win an olympic or WC gold. (he just needs to prove he has the tactical sense)
2) Scott Raczko is a very good coach for Alan Webb.

I find it funny that within the week there was a thread discussing Webb's lack of leg speed which in turn led to his inability to kick. Even funnier will be when those same people find some way to trash Webb performance here. Sometimes I get the feeling people would still call him slow even if he ran 1:40 because he hadn't won a gold medal.
I never thought that he'd run this fast. I am more than impressed. I just hope that he comes home fromn Osaka with a medal around his neck.
wow, yep hats off to webb. I think for a long time he has shown he was gonna go 3.30/3.46 at some stage, but to rip out a wee 1.43 to boot that is legit.
After this race he is the clear favourite for WC gold in the 1500m. Outright.
And I beleive this is the first indication I have had that he may in fact have the tools to one day get into the 3.27/3.26 range, now that is exciting.
Well, he's capable of a 3:45 in the mile right now.
Was that Reed's PR as well?
