The Utica Boilermaker 15k is coming this Sunday, July 8th. A couple items:
1. Regarding sub-elite status, when you pick up your packet at the expo (Friday afternoon or Saturday), make sure you have a bib number between 100 and 300. This number will get you into the sub-elite corral and warm-up area. You will not get in without it. You will have automatically been placed in sub-elite if your 2005 or 2006 Boilermaker time was 54:00 or better. If you did not run the Boilermaker or produced better times elsewhere and emailed your request to me last month (from the prior sub-elite thread), you should have received a reply from me giving you some idea of your status (either looking good, on the edge, or no go). I doubled checked my mail and everyone who received a "looking good" got in, so make sure you get a 100-300 bib #.
2. The bib #'s are alphabetical by last name within the corral. Joey Aardvark will have a lower bib # than Larry Zebra even if Larry has a faster time.
3. You can find general info at boilermaker.com but here are a few useful tidbits: Packet pickup is noon-7PM Friday at the expo, 9-4 Saturday at the expo, and 6:30 am at ECR (near the start area) on race morning. Over 12,000 people have registered for the 15k this year.
4. A map of the race with elevation is available on USATF Running Routes:
http://www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=141005
5. If you are heading in from the NYS Thruway (I-90), Utica is exit number 31 at mile marker 233. You will want to go straight out of the toll booths and loop to your left on the overpass. This will lead to Genesee Street. You turn right on Genesee, traveling south toward the city. To park at the start (there will be buses to take you from the finish party back to the start), the easiest way is to take Broad Street from Genesee. This is a right hand ramp about a mile from the Thruway. Turn left onto Broad Street (you'll go underneath Genesee) and continue a few blocks until you see a major cross street, route 5S (Oriskany Blvd). Turn left and continue on 5S for a mile or so. You'll see an overpass going overhead with a Boilermaker sign on it. This is the start area. Continue under the bridge to the very next exit (I believe it's Turner Street). As soon as you get off the exit there will be a large parking lot. This is the same area used for expo parking. The start area is not far off.
6. If you have any other questions, please holler away.
I will be at the Utica Roadrunners booth at the expo from time to time. If you get a chance, stop by and say Hi.
Best of luck to everyone.
