Here's some stuff I've learned over the years concerning running. Please add to the list as you see fit.
Balancing on one leg while gentle rotating the body around the axis for 2 minutes, 2 twice per day will greatly help limit IT troubles.
Live a balanced life both in regards to running and everything else.
Stay hydrated everyday.
Minimalist shoes work for me, but not everyone.
Eat well, always.
Don't attempt a hard workout when really sore and tired.
Own several pairs of running shoes and alternate for training.
Don't worry too much about mileage totals. 100 miles isn't necessarily better than 94.
Keep a log for motivational purposes and to examine schedules in lieu of successes and failures (ie. injuries).
Set goals.
When achilles are sore, stand under cold running water for a few minutes after exercise.
Read everything you can about running.
Stretching isn't for everyone.
Do a few minutes of core exercises after each run.
Strides help keep the speed, regardless of training phase.
Excuses are just excuses.
Sleep when possible. Cut back on harder workouts when challenged for sleeping time.
Admire the sunrise whenever possible.
Be courteous towards drivers, but never expect them to notice you, ever!
Use Vaseline on nipples before any really long races.
Always start every run or workout with a mile or so of easy jogging. Try to do the same at the end.
Drink something with protein in it (powder, etc) within 20 minutes of finishing a long one.
