I didn't see him on the start lists for the 400. Anyone know what's up?

200
defending world champ gets a pass in their event
he doesn't have to run the 400 at USAs, so hes taking another shot at the 200...although I'm sure he doesn't expect to qualify...
last time John Capel competed in the 200m at worlds this way..he looked bad at USA's, but got in based on the rule..
he rounded into form by worlds and was part of USA's 1-4 beat down in the 200..
he needs to stop running the f*cking 2 and focus on the 4.
He might run a 19.9x but is it worth it? NO. He can run 42.7 if he keeps up.
you need mass to run the two, too come off that curve and barrel down the straightaway. That boy aint got no mass on him.

He needs to focus on the 800. He could run under 1:40!
he would have the sickest kick in the mile ever...that retard should move up!
Then just think of the kick he could have in the 10,000!!!

I doubt he's running the 200 with any designs on actually winning, or even making the team. He doesn't need to run 3 (?) rounds of a 400m and so, quite rightly, he's not.
Running however many top class 200m races will be good for him, just what he needs at this stage in his season. Given the way he ran at Carson, sharpening his speed looks his most pressing concern right now
Forget the 10,000m. He would have the best kick around in the marathon.
You are black arent you?

He is focusing on the 4. Surprisingly, training for one event sometimes means running a different event.
several posts on this thread show how much smarter the running community is over his coach. lets see... Oly Gold, World Champ, etc, etc. they developed a plan (i remember reading about it a while ago) where they were going to focus on the speed side of things, so that he will be able to improve upon his basic speed. seems like a good plan to me, as he can always improve his aerobic base. i'm stoked to see an athlete and coach sticking to their plan and seeing it through. if after the 2008 olympics he has lost the Oly Gold and not come close the the AR/ WR in the 400 then the door will be open for people to explain why they'd make a better coach. as for me, i'll trust Wariner that he's doin the right thing.
he nees to have some 300meter time trials.

Finally, a voice of reason and experience!
Why is he not running the 300 meters in USA's then? I mean who would think of ever running a 200 meters when you are a 400 runner. That is like a miler running an 800 meters, it just never EVER happens!
I agree with him moving up to show off his kick. Why stop at the marathon though... What many don't know is that Jeremy ran Comrades to train for his 400 meters. What has not been reported in the papers that the death of a runner just meters from the finish was not of natural causes but due to Wariner's blazing kick.
ultras, no doubt in my mind...trust me I ran 53 in the 400 before.
Nah, there's a clear demarcation between sprinters and 800 meter guys. That's where things change. For every Juantorena (sp?) there are others who don't transition up well.
Wariner is a sprinter, plain and simple. He'll run the 400 till he dies and retire, and he should. Why put in the miles to be an average 800 runner? There aren't a lot of examples of great 400 guys becoming great 800 guys.
Stick to the 400. He's not a marathoner or 10K guy or miler either. Distance runners tend to think everyone is like them. Wrong. Run the 400 and anchor the Olympic 4 x 400 team, get a few more golds and hang it up after two more Olympics and a few world championships.
you dont come round these parts much do you?
Could you imagine his kick during Western States this weekend?

Those skinny wretches, Don Quarrie and Pietro Mennea, had no mass on them either, but they have Olympic Golds. I wonder will X ever get one? Calvin Smith was another skinny one and he won two World titles. If you're fast enough you're big (or small) enough.
Holy F****ing Sh**. Employee 1.1 just broke 15:00 for 5000 for the 1st time at age 36.
Al Jazeera publishes piece on how alleged Olympic marathoner Ashley Uhl-Leavitt has a GoFundMe. Who?
