Inspired by the stories of David Torrence, tomorrow night I will attempt my own sub 4 downhill mile. The course which will run through Athens GA drops roughly 125ft (755-630ft) from start to finish, although much of it slopes in the last 400m. I am in decent shape as i have run 3:49 for 1500m. The course will start at Millege and Lumpkin and finish at Lumpkin and Baxter. I was able to go out and wheel the whole distance so it will be the full 1609m.
Start time has been set for 1am.
My support crew will consist of a 4 or five guys in the back of a pickup yelling splits with a bullhorn and videotaping.
Big Wave, any tips/ hints? I also need a 4 minute song to get pumped up, any suggestions people? Am I forgetting anything?
The downhill mile by the Big Wave kicked off a pretty big jump in his running (as he did run a legit sub 4 his next season) so hopefully this can get me rolling.
Also anyone else in the Athens area who wants to come out run or join in the post race festivities are more than welcome.
Video to come sometime Saturday...
