"I sincerely tried to provide a much more balanced presentation than our dear friend, John Crumpacker at the SF Chronicle." Your response to Bearinsider yesterday.
Yes, I knew that the shot-put prelims were held on the second day and that only one Cal athlete had qualified! But evidently you didn't.Thus I was amused to read your glowing report of both qualifying on the first day!
I bet that Crumpacker checks his facts a little more carefully. I sense that you are a real track fan and sincerely hope that you enjoy the meet, both real and imagined!
Your sarcasm is noted.
Congratulations on picking your way thru my article, word for word. I'm glad that you enjoyed reading/analyzing it.
Given your tremendous knowledge of the throwing events perhaps you would like to become a full-time track and field reporter so that you can make a grand .04 cents per word. As it is, this is just a part-time hobby and it doesn't even pay for my gas bill.
In any event, I would suspect that Crumpacker makes a whole lot more than 0.04 cents per word. Even then, he conveniently failed to mention that Coach Joyce has 3 Cal throwers competing at the NCAA's (vs 4 at that throwing power UCLA), and that Trackwire has the women's program ranked at #17 in the nation.
But judging by your comments, I would imagine that you feel such reporting by JC was "fair and balanced" just like FOX NEWS.
Back to the Meet.
