I have a bitching case of "runner's knee" (Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome) that absolutely will not go away with straight leg lifts.
Anyone have this kind of injury that has been this severe? How did you come back?
Maybe it is not runners knee, but I'm no injury expert. Here is what happened:
My pain started back in October; at first I could run on it, then I could run for a few days and then take one off, and eventually I ended up not being able to run, and I limped when I walked. (Lesson learned: do not ignore an injury). Going down stairs caused me the most pain.
The pain is on the lower left portion of my kneecap. It hurts when I bend it fast or when I try to run at all. I can walk around on it just fine, but anything faster than a walk gets me limping in under 50 meters.
I have not done any exercise really since the thing happened; the fall was my last season of eligibility and I wasn't up to doing the whole bike-90-minutes-a-day come-back routine with no track to look forward to. I've got the training bug back now, but unfortunately I no longer have an athletic department to fund my recovery.
What I want is an MRI but no doctor will sign off on one.
Does this sound like runner's knee? Could it be something else?
What are the best exercises to strengthen my inner quad, and how many should I do daily?
