Does anyone else have problems with not being able to put in consistent training? It's like my body is not meant to train for more than two consecutive months without some sort of setback. Since 2003, my training has been like a fartlek workout (on two months, off two months or something similar). While I have been able to run decent times through all of this, I know that I could run so much better if I could get in at least a good six months worth of running (cross training doesn't count). I'm only running 40-50 miles a week right now, but I still get hurt every two to three months. Orthotics did not help me at all. I still could not last more than 3 months. I admit that I do tend to run too fast on my easy days, but this is getting ridiculous. I know injuries are a part of the game, but 5 setbacks a year is a little much. Has anyone else had this problem before, but has overcame it? However, I'm not interested in any alternative health fad or voodoo science such as the POSE method or minimalist training. Just realistic methods that work.
