I have a kid on my team that is diabetic and has trouble controlling his blood sugar with his running. Any one have any tips, ideas, or foods that will help keep his blood sugar up during long invites that last all day and he races multiple times.

best bet would be to have him talk to his doctor. I'm guessing he is insulin dependent so there are different types of insulin he could try (might mean more injections though)
also more frequent small snacks might help
My daughter's endocrinologist recommends about 15g of easily digestible carbs for every half-hour of vigorous exercise/activity. However, every child will be different. We give our daughter a juice box (could just as well be a bottle of Gatorade) before she starts a soccer game. We then check her blood at the half and give more if necessary. A peanut butter sandwich a short while before activity (without giving insulin to cover it) gives a longer lasting affect to the sugar. Keep in mind that muscles will burn sugars for fuel, so there wouldn't be a need to take insulin to allow for absorption like usual. There are professional and amateur athletes with diabetes, but I'd be pretty confident it took a bit of experimentation to get the amounts and times right.
