I like the commentators. I think they are pretty good.
Everything about Flotrack is great!
Then turn down the sound....
The commentary was a bit annoying toward the end of the 4x800 video on the front page, just because the dude kept saying the same few team names about every second. I understand trying to get excited and stay with the action, but saying "LSU, Columbia, LSU, Michigan, LSU" repeatedly is a bit much. Other than that specific video I can't complain though.
you gh3y. flocast = best thing that happend to this sport. commentators are great.
The commentary of the Stanford 10K was fantastic. The only thing that got me was they were calling Ed Moran "Ryan Bak." It was well prepared, there was some stats thrown in from some of the runners, they didn't over announce (as in they let you watch the race without interupting it) and overall I'd say they are getting better at announcing.

How about instead of bitching and moaning, you actually email them and tell them what you would like to see made better and how they could do a better job commentating. They have been pretty good about listening to peoples thoughts and ideas.

Anyone else here remember Vic Holchak (sp.?) from the late, lamented 1-800-SOMETHINGOROTHERTRACK series of the early 90s? His sprint calls were great:
It's Lewis. And Christie. Lewis. And Christie. LEWIS! AND CHRISTIE! LEWIS!! AND CHRISTIE!! AND BURRELL WINS IT!!!!!!!
We know the original post is from the flotrack guys. The pattern is obvious. You've done the disguised pitch here so many times, we're sick of it. As sick of it, as your little pictures. We can't see the people at all, only a bunch of match-stick figures. Take a video class at the local community college will you.

I'm just grateful they've provided a place for us to see current and past track meets.

1-800-94-TRACK. And yeah, they were great. In the days before widespread internet, I followed the 1993 World Championships (Stuttgart) by calling that line several times a day.
and you who would you rather have, carol lewis and larry rawson??
i saw the flotrack guys guys walking around at penn relays, but i didn't see them actually filming.
my question is this - is the guy holding the camera doing commentary at the same time?
i ask because it's often difficult to call a race while trying to fit it into the screen at the same time. when i got hurt in college, i'd still go to meets to man the camera. i tried doing a bit of commentary to liven up the tapes, but it was pretty hard. when i couldn't find the name of guys i knew well, i stuttered and stammered and sounded much like the flocast guys.
a couple meets later i let our team manager film the race and i stood next to him announcing it. it sounded so much smoother, and i could consult a program if i got stuck. it worked so much better that way.
The commentators of Webb's 3.51 mile.......just a
girl screeeaaaaaming out loud.

lol
I've only watched them during Texas Relays videos and I thought they were pretty much great.
I couldn't disagree with you more. This is how track and field commentary should be done. A few knowledgeable guys basically having a conversation. I find them interesting, and think what they are doing is great.
Part of me is now wondering if the original poster is not in fact Carol Lewis. Probably a little worried that she will never work in the T&F industry again.
I hear they are saving up to get Carol Lewis. Will you be happy then?
