anna willard is unreal this year. 2:03 in the 800, 15:53 in the 5k, now 4:13 split for a 1500. anyone have any idea if she will run the steeple this year? (she was all american last year...wasn't running anywhere near this well).

I would have picked her for the weak leg on the relay, not the dominant one (but what do I know, I did not even recognize her name)!
Yeah, not real sure why UNC had Cummings on the first leg instead of Kaltenbach. Put Meg on that 1200m leg, and UNC spanks that ass every time. Brie is a monster bringing it home. Did y'all see her close over the last 300m? Really good stuff.
1 Tennessee 11:09.16 Rose-Anne Galligan (3:26.0), Latonya Loche (52.9), Leslie Treherne (2:08.9), Sarah Bowman (4:41.4)
2 Villanova 11:10.19 Akilah Vargas (3:26.6), Tiera Fletcher (54.3), Arusha McKenzie (2:12.3), Frances Koons (4:37.0)
3 North Carolina 11:12.44 Laura Cummings (3:33.8), Tyra Johnson (58.1), Georgia Kloss (2:07.4), Brie Felnagle (4:33.1)
4 Duke 11:16.84 Kate Van Buskirk (3:27.4), Lindsay Owen (54.6), Michelle Seibert (2:10.7), Liz Wort (4:44.1)
She could\'ve run 10 seconds faster on that leg than Cummings.
The thing that struck me about UNC's splits -- aside from another great anchor by Brie -- was the 400 leg. I mean, I can understand dropping 7.8 seconds in a 1320, but dropping 5.3 in a 400??? After two legs, they're already down over 13 seconds. It's not often that the 400 leg makes that much of a difference in the DMR.
Yeah, the 400m leg was pretty bad, but UNC never really has a very strong 400m leg... usually no faster than 55 - 56ish. Meg and Brie are what make UNC's DMR special, and not having Meg cost them yesterday. Like I said, put Meg on that first leg, and UNC wins by about 10 seconds yesterday. Brie would've crushed Bowman.
Injured
Annie Willard is using the graduate transfer exemption and great training partners to achieve big PR gains.
In only her third race as a Wolverine -- she previously ran at Brown before enrolling in a Masters program at Michigan this fall -- Willard won her first event with the Maize and Blue, capturing the 800-meter title at the Eastern Michigan Invitational April 21.
she could be redshirting...I am pretty sure she is a senior and sat out a cross season a while back, so she could be redshirting so she has a full year left.
