Is that another term for a hot spot? Is it one step away from a stree fracture? I'm guessing it's a lot of inflamation in the foot w/o any structural damage? Anybody have one of these? Can altitude cause this, make ones bones weaker?

My guess is that it is double-speak for a really sore area where you once had a stress fracture. the cure? 130 miles per week on the Alberto Salazar anti-gravity treadmill.
I find it ironic that Hudson has finally convinced Ritz to move from altitude. The altitude/stress fracture blabbing has been going on since 2004....
I've had one and its basically a spot on the bone where there is some inflamation and is on its way to a stress fracture. Mine was diagnosed with an MRI and I was in a boot for a month (after already having taken a couple of weeks off). I resumed running and havent had a problem since then. I should also note though that I have not had a full blown stress fracture.
Check this out on Ritz' move to Eugene:
In addition, Ritzenhein said, at sea level he will be able to do some faster training as he prepares for track races and for the marathon. Ritzenhein said in Eugene there are "multiple wood-chip trails and a lack of stress from altitude."

Anyone ever hear of complaints about the 'stress of altitude'? I thought over time you just got used to it and eventually don't even notice it.
You thought wrong.
