It is a great story, and I'm glad I read the profile. It brings alive a guy who otherwise would just be a fricking stud tough-as-nails runner.
But Americans wouldn't really care all that much if an American had won Boston. It would be bigger news, but not by much. Face it, our 'sport' is all about participant ribbons and personal journeys for most folks. People who run 'fast' are freaks to our fat coworkers.
Paula has gotten plenty of attention in the US and she is not an American. I think the point of Rojo's article is that we need to address Cheruyiot as an individual instead of "just some Kenyan."
