CHAPA SET to RUN for DUCKS
Joaquin Chapa, the son of 1970s Oregon distance running standout Rudy Chapa, has graduated from Stanford ahead of schedule and preserved some of his remaining eligibility to run for the Ducks.
Chapa is enrolled in a graduate-level journalism program this term at Oregon after completing his undergraduate degree in political science from Stanford in March. He was granted a release from Stanford and secured a special waiver that allowed him to transfer within the Pacific-10 Conference.
Chapa has one season of eligibility left in cross country and track. He can compete for the Ducks this spring, but hasn't decided whether to sit out and compete for Oregon in 2008 instead. As a high school senior at Grant, he won the 2003 state championship in the 1,500 meters.
