I am taking over as the RD of a significantly sized race that hasn't awarded prize in the past, but I think it has that potential. So, maybe not this year or next, but in the not to far distant future, I plan to have a race that awards the fast guys. I'm sure no one here has a problem with that.
My issue, though, is that while I think it's great when women run fast, I really care about a tenth as much as I do about the guys. Maybe this is because I am guy, and maybe I'm sexist. Whatever. I think it's to how the women pro basketballers earn a tiny fraction of what the guys make. Sure people think the women should play, but they just really don't care quite as much.
I'm thinking that I'll have the prize money go to the first however many runners regardless of gender. But, is it wrong to not want to dilute the winnings for the men? Will the women participants throw a big cow because they disagree in principle?
