"You Get What You Give" was one of the best songs from anyone over the past ten years. Too bad Gregg Alexander didn't want to continue the band.

Definitely one of the more clever song writers I've heard in a while, but definitely didn't want the success they got. Wish they would have continued indeed.
He (Alexander) either cowrote or produced and cowrote that song "Game of Love" that Santanna did with Michelle Branch.
The production values are so similar to "You Get What You Give" that it sounds as though that song could have been on
"Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too".
I had a 3-hour drive home from a weekend race once and played "You Get What You Give" constantly the whole way. It was almost hypnotic.
Maybe he felt he was happy with the one good solid CD?
there was no 'band'...it was an illusion. It was a one man band. One guy.
Do a search because there are earlier threads on this same topic.
I believe someone who was more in the know than I stated that the singer freaked out with all the attention/fame/publicity and quit. (See Kurt Cobain, right when he hit it big)
we ran the miracle mile!
Like Dave Chappelle? He really blew it, I don't care what excuses he makes....
That was a really cool music video! Low budget, shot in a mall.... awesome song.
Even better than 'You Get What You Give' was that no one wanted to hype him up, ie, 'these guys are the next (insert band here), or tear them down, 'oh, they guys are just a one hit wonder'. Everyone just sort of realized that they had a decent album and left it at that. to quote Chuck Klosterman, they were "rated"

ABSOLUTELY 10000% COULDN'T AGREE MORE!!!
In our household, You Get What You Give is known as "That Song..." What a fantastic talent that guy is / was, and he just didn't give a fack after that CD. The first 3 songs on the CD are better than Beatles imho. The rest is merely "great", but those first 3 are...er....I can't speak!
"Make my nipples hard, lets go.....AAAAAAAAOoooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww........."
yeah that was a great album..."i heard i'm big in japan..." and all that. it is still holding up after almost 10 years. the guy's a wonderful writer.
wow. honestly this was the most annoying song i've ever heard. they sucked a whole lot along with vertical horizon and some of those other terrible bands that were popular back in the late 90s.
some of the worst musical selections ive ever checked out have come from letsrun.com
its a very good album and has some great slow songs on it latter on. I heard the guy split the band up as he didnt want to be famous- must have been round about the time he realised he was big in japan!
now writes a ton of songs for other people and takes the cash not the lime light!
still can always say he made one great album!
i'm big in japan too.
clearly your taste is in your mouth, then...have a nice day
