Another possibility:
Game over!
Blondes all in a pile.

I agree with the Lima photo. Not as memorable, but close:
great finish, great picture, two champions.

I certainly prefer this type of photo. Game on, rather than game over.
There is a larger version on getty images.
I'd already forgotten about it, apparently it's not that memorable. Although, nothing Stember ever did really was.

It's got to be that pic of Paula Radcliffe dropping a squat by the sidewalk during the London Marathon! I can't seems to find the picture with a Google search...
I would think it would be something with El G.
Oopsie. Let's try again.
thats very homoerotic.

As usual, the creative interpretation of the original post is intriguing.
Some of the linked pictures are certainly evocative of memorable moments, but they're lame pictures. Bekele and Geb together? Great moment, no doubt. Lame photo, for sure.
Now, the Geb/Tergat finish? Good photo. Captures the moment. Dramatic. Same with the pile-up at Prefontaine. The picture captures the moment even if you know f* all about running or the people involved.
say what you want about sprinters, but i think this was the most memorable and dominating performance this decade.
