Had fun on my recruiting trip, but went to a different school. Too damn boring in Alamosa!
Adams State is the most overrated piece of crap school in America. Anyone who goes there is an idiot. They suck. Division II sucks.
Get a life.
I always hear the town sucks, but I would say it's one of the top 5 schools in the country for developing athletes. They don't get near the talent of Colorado but still find a way to give them some good runs.
The town is great for running. Not so great for getting into trouble. If you are more interested in the latter, go somewhere else.

So says the 4:30 miler still hoping he has a shot at D1. D2 runs circles around you.
The great TQ has left his mark there.
Alamosa isn't so bad. Sure, it's not Boulder - which, besides not having as much fauna and flora, means it's not full of pretentious yuppies and unoriginal rich kids. Rather, you have a team full of down-to-earth college athletes, training as hard if not harder than most teams, showing great commitment to the sport, and living the lifestyle necessary to be great distance runners.
Sure, there aren't frats and drunkfest football tailgates. I would argue, however, that this is what makes the runners there successful. Adams State competes with teams they have no business competing with...such as when they beat Colorado this year. Sure, they don't have as much talent, but the team does have a commitment to excellence and they make the best with what they have.
In my opinion, Alamosa is a place that slowly grows on you. It is easy for a passerby to dislike the town based on a brief observation of the environment, city, and weather. But, in time you begin to appreciate things such as not having people heckling you while you run, training on all dirt trails with deer roaming everywhere, or watching the sunrise while jogging alongside the Rio Grande during a two-a-day. The panoramic of the snow-capped Sangre de Cristo mountain range is absolutely awe inspiring.
In conclusion, Adams State can be a very good college fit for distance runners. I would recommend the school to kids who aren't afraid to work hard, those who seek to reach their potential, or those who want a chance to be a part of one of the greatest traditions in all of sports.
Hows the coach there? He seems like a nice guy and pretty competent
