Yes Jericho Mile is the top.
I think about the opening scene of Endurance quite often when I run. Just watching Haile on a regular run and his form and stride over uneven ground is inspiring.
Visions of 8
profiled 8 events at Munich 1972.
extensive part focussed on Ron Hill in the marathon.
wonderful slow motion, and a disturbing sound track that paralleled Hill's falling apart. I think he attributed his poor showing to the delay after the terrorists attack combined with his extreme carbo loading regimen.
I think I recall some scenes with Kenny Moore and Mamo Wolde towards the end.
I have no idea how to get a copy to view now.
It's not the best running movie at all, but I wonder if anyone of my age (40) can remember this one... "The Loneliest Runner" starring Michael Landon? It was a made for TV movie in the mid-70's. I kid you not, here is the synopisis from imdb - "A fourteen year old bed wetter runs home from school every day to retrieve the wet sheet his mother has hung from his bedroom window to punish him. He races to get there before any of his friends pass the house. This enforced training prepares him to become a competitive runner. The script, by Michael Landon, is autobiographical Written by Frank Wallace {fwallace@nct.org}."
I remember watching this once as a kid, and that's the last time I saw it. This talk about running movies made me remember it. I had always thought it was fictional, until I read the synopsis this morning. Ouch.
By the way... I always liked the Jericho Mile.
The marathon sequence in Ichikawa's Tokyo Olympiad - a visual feast for your eyes.

Jim Hogan ran a ballsy race in Tokyo giving it all he had to try and stay with Bikila. Pursuing the Ethiopian's relentless pace he ran himself to a standstill and had to retire a la Radcliffe at 36km .
Nice. I run that route as well. How much of your mileage do you do in Queens?
