the real question is, does wyner have the arm strength this year to throw one of his own teammates off the track in the final straight?
hey i think cornell will win
Murat Kayali for the win in the mile.
Hari Iyer in the 5k.
I haven't heard of either of those guys. Well I've heard of one of them, but they are not going to win.

This year Wyner is planning on using a looping-terydactyl haymaker to knock some skulls before the race starts. Afterward he'll consider cutting that awful hair, but realize there are no ethnic barbershops in Ithaca, and settle for Rojo's pruning sheers.
Ian "Punchy The Clown" Marcus vs Jimmy "Mr. Peepers" Wyner
Venue: The backstretch of Franklin Field
Will the stumble-bum alchy be able to use his fists of fury to take down the lazy eyed muppet?
Only time will tell.
Some predictions:
5k- Vinny Olsen over Sam Luff in a close battle of where are they now.
3k- Maag and Nightengale from Princet.. wait, remember outdoor heps last year? Tim Galeback that ass up wins.
1.609k- This sets up to be a tough one between Wyner, Norton and Boylan-Pett. Their blazing seed times of "NT" give them the edge.
1k- Tim Kajambalaya will emerge victor and repeat as the champion of the kilometer footrace.
.8k- If they gave awards for having lots of guys who can run 1:51-1:53 I think Heps would win. Considering Columbia was supposed to have five runners 1:50.00 or under last week, I think one of them should be able to win Heps and get the Auto time.
that was rather mean-spirited.
As usual, the "elite" schools in the Ivy League are showing their class.
Back to the predictions thread. I've scored out the meet a couple of times using the descending order list as a guide and it seems (on paper at least) like this is the year that Princeton returns to its former track glory. There are a few questions about who will run what that make predicting the team title a little difficult. Major players like Wyner, Boylan-Pett, and Norton have been no shows in their marquee event and some late great performance (6.90 for Chang and 16'1" for Kirkpatrick, who is that guy?) make it especially difficult to predict.
800: Who will run this? From the list I would pick Boylan-Pett, but Mike Smayda put together two surprisingly strong performances last year at both the indoor and outdoor heps.
1k: Kijala, He's too strong and even with controversial win last year, he still got the win, so I'm not picking against the defending champ.
Mile: This one is up for grabs. Assuming Princeton is gunning for the team title one or both of their studs will win this. I will pencil in Maag for the win with O'toole scoring in the 3-6 range.
3k: Nightengale and Maag go 1,2 with Galebach running for third.
5k: I want to pick Jake Gallagher on this one. He's run the fastest time is very talented and a pretty good racer. But, anytime an athlete misses the HYP meet you have to wonder about their health. If he's healthy he wins, if not the 5k will be a dogfight. I wouldn't be surprised if Tinney got the win here, he has the best PR in the field.
Relays: I think this is where the meet will be won or lost for Princeton or Cornell. Penn should win the 4 by 8 but I think Cornell will get second (they seem to always bring a fresh guy which helped them get second last year). In the DMR if Princeton saves one of their big guns for the anchor leg that should be an automatic ten points. However I think Columbia could snatch the title since they seem to have a slew of very good mid-d guys. Cornell will also be in the mix, but I don't know if they have the big stick to anchor (Wyner?, Kimple?).
Team Title: Princeton looks very strong, but (sorry guys) they haven't yet shown that they can step up big when the meet is on the line. The 5k at outdoor heps last year was embarrassing. Princeton gave the meet away. Seemingly Maag and Nightengale have improved a ton since then. However the meet might come down to Columbia playing spoiler. If the powder blue steals enough points away from the big red, Princeton should be well on its way to the Triple Crown. If not, Cornell squeaks by with another win.
Well said.
The Mid-D results will depend largely on what Tim K runs at heps. 800? 1k? He has to be considered a heavy favorite in both.
Indoor Heps should be a great meet. Cornell and Princeton are both good teams. I thought both teams competed quite well outdoors last sping. I don't think Princeton placing 4 men in the top 6 of the 5k (including the event winner) was giving the meet away.
Considering they had two 14:00 guys that were fresh and they finished 5th and 6th running 14:30's, yeah it was pretty bad.

What meet were you watching? How is finishing 1,4,5,6 with Dartmouth 2nd and 3rd giving the meet away? The only way that might be embarrassing would be the lack of opposition put up by the rest of the league (apart from Dartmouth), a foretaste of the XC this fall I guess where I think you could say that the Tigers 'stepped up big'. Or perhaps you meant that the 5k was embarrassing because of Cornell's failure to place anyone?
Who has the better 3k/5k runners? Princeton. Who has the better 800/1000 runners? Cornell. Come see what happens.

Do you have a link to such a list? I'd be very interested! Also, is Princeton as big a threat on the women's side?

Scotty Ragosta from cornell was left off the list for Pole Vaulters, hes been jumping around 18-19 feet in practice.
heres a photo from his facebook account

Also, I see what you mean: I though Cornell had huge field-event strength, but PU is right in that mix.
*"thought"
That was the men I was talking about. A look at the women's performance list tells me that, if Cornell brings all their guns, beating them will be next to impossible: they've got some holes, but they also have some people who haven't competed in certain events yet (e.g. Maduka in TJ). Doesn't look like Princeton has the event coverage to beat Cornell--maybe Brown is the closest threat?
Anyway, I could see the men's meet being up in the air until the final relays. Should be a great show.
(Speaking of "up in the air"--that's some crew of male and female jumpers that Cornell has. Yikes.)
