"But then you get out on the world level…and you’ve got all the world record holders like David Slazks and Paul Tergat and all these guys and they don’t even know who I am."
David Slazks????
i still disagree with him moving up to the marathon so suddenly.
i think he should do 2 or 3 20k races this year and pr each time. then i think after he is done with those races, he should break the meb's american record for 10,000.
after making sure his 10k record is left untouched for a year or so, then he can attempt a marathon. but only as an experiment. we'll see how he develops in the 49.xxx kilometer race. who knows>? his body type may be more configued for half that distance.
But luckily there's one thing we all agree on: you're a dumbf*** 430miler!
he is living in a mobile home
49 kilometer race? did i miss something? or did the 430 miler just word vomit again all over my screen
why does it say fernando cabada is responding to the first question?

Man, you make a statement like your first sentence and then try to back it up with all that nonsensical incorrect blather. Why bother? You just refute your own thesis when you make it clear you have no idea what you are talking about.
Lack of quality under the current admin would be the culprit.

David Slazks????
That's very, very funny. Wow. I'm pretty sure he must have said "Gebreselassie" -- say it fast, and you'll see. But as the interviewer, how do you do an interview like that and think you can just make up a name and no one will notice? It's not like there are that many world record holders out there!
Hey 4:30 either stop posting on here or stop being so sarcastic. I think we are all just missing 430;s sarcastic side or something.
Any way the reason he is moving up to the marathon is obvious...OLYMPICS. He probably feels the best way for him to medal is going to be the marathon and not the 10k. But then again making the marathon team will be a much larger challenge than making the 5k or 10k team. The trials is going to be a sick race with Hall, KK, Ritz, Meb, Abdi, Sell. You got to kind of feel for Sell any other olympics he probably would have a good chance of making it, now this olympics it seems close to impossible.

Agreed, and same goes for the Slazks thing. Pity that AW is gone...

olympics? for marathon? ha.
he's more conserned about the american/world record marathon than a 26.2 mile race in the olympics.
he can run in the olympic race if he wants, but we all know that he is gpoing to try to set the record at berlin, germany just like tergat did; because everyone thinks thats a fast course.
most of the time this is what i hear "tergat had a good race on a fast course" and things like that. i cant wait till someone else runs berlin (geb again would be fine) and sees that its not a fast course. thats probably the course that ryun will try to set records on (other than his london debut of course, which could be a disaster)
I've gone over that name, saying it aloud trying to figure out who it was supposed to be but am coming up empty. Any guesses?

Not to repeat myself, but I'd go with Gebrselassie. People often mention his name in tandem with Tergat's.
I think at some point they'll realize their mistake and change the name. Only then will we found out who the real David Slazks is.
It does make sense to say Geb's name along with Tergat's but, wow, if it really was that then that's a hell of a stretch by a really ignorant interviewer.
why do you think it is not a fast course?

its a decently fast course. there are course that are far faster, chicago may be one of them.
the point is, its not fast enough for everyone to go around saying "that was just a fast course" and things like that. its not a downhill course. tergat would hold the record regardless/.
