What's the course looking like at this time? I'm assuming that there is still some snow, particularly in shady areas.

Haven't been to the course. If it's anything like the Fort, there's still 6-8 inches on the ground, texture is kinda crunchy and half frozen. Not something I'd want to run on.
On a related note, is anyone headed for Boulder doing anything to prepare for the high altitude? I'm considering doing some training over the next couple of weeks in a hypoxic chamber. It's probably pretty silly for me, since my goals for the race are a bit more modest than most, namely, not to finish DFL in the master's 8K.
Recent article in the Camera says some people are in town right now for XC training.
I'd be worried about the cold just as much as the altitude. It has the potential to be frickin' freezing here. Takes a bit to get used to running in that.
would u take the bet my friend gets hall i get the feild for the win.
I live in Colorado and my XC coach is actually in charge for putting the race on. He says that the snow has been shoveled from the course im pretty sure
The snow's been cleared from that Worst XC course, but the golf course where nationals will be held is still completely covered with snow.
I hope you're kidding. Many places in the U.S. deal with cold weather as bad if not much worse than Boulder, but there are not many places outside the Rocky Mountains where you can experience altitude.
what kind of time will win the junior boys 8k? and what kind of time will make worlds? Given that the conditions are good.
Probably 29:30 for the 8K win.
i didnt ask what u were going to run
Dude, look at the camera below - this is only 20 min from Boulder!
Ok. but I was asking if the conditions were good. Which may not happen, but thats what i was asking. and by the way isnt that a ski resort? And didnt the usatf website say that the boulder road crew would plow all the snow off the course?
Use to be just a neighborhood in Boulder, but now with all of the snow, they have turned it into a ski resort.
you're an idiot
dora is 40-45 minutes from boulder
i go there every weekend
a lot of the snow is melted in boulder
the course should be fine
although we are expecting a couple inches this weekend...
It's a joke - this is 25 min west of Boulder at 8500ft.
The course has snow at the moment - snow has been melting somewhat with warm temps near 50, but Boulder is due for a few more inches of snow this weekend and very cold temps next week.
I believe the golf course is still covered with snow, but Julian posted on here and said he will get it plowed before the race.
Here's an article on Clint Wells that was in the Daily Camera today and it mentions that the Hansons are in town and will be running the Best XC tomorrow.

i'm tired of people saying: "everyone who is concerned about snow is a cry baby"....if you're a "professional" you're concerned about the conditions on the course that you'll be competing. It's part of being a professional. I believe Deena Kastor dropped out of the NYC US cross champs as a result of poor racing conditions, ice, snow, etc. Do you think she was a "cry baby" or a professional distance runner?
If you're not concerned about the snow...you're not a serious athlete. With that said, you have to worry about the things that you can control. The weather is not one of them. But the decision to race in that weather, that can be controlled.
Some of these jokers who keep reporting from Boulder are "from Boulder" which means they are mildly insane, and incapable of a rational thought process - so take their "analysis" with a grain of salt.
