yeah we deffinately wont see a low 3:50's indoor race come out of that field. I suspect Webb will finish first in 3:56/7.

pearly queen- perhaps try posting under your own name for once? Realised where I made my mistake with the PB, Thie has run a 3:50 mile (admittedly road so questionable) which is a top class performance.
Thie ran over 4 seconds faster over 3000m indoors than Baddeley ran outdoors in 2006. Thie's best mile was 2 seconds slower last season and they both raced it at least 3 times.
Less than a month from today last year Thie beat Baddeley over the 1500 indoors. In the vast majority of their encounters, whilst Baddeley won, Thie was usually about 2-3 seconds behind.
Don't get me wrong, Baddeley's better and can run faster, but the difference is hardly El G to pearly queen is it? and given Thie's experience indoors I expect him to be chasing should anyone drop off the leaders.
Wish the two British lads all the best and hopefully they'll both run well.

1.)Symmonds ran 3:56 at Washington State. It's a legit time and good for him, but the WSU track is 300meters long and is therefore very fast
We UW Huskies do not appreciate our fine institution being referred to as Washington State. Do they even have an indoor track over there?

2.)The armory is a slower track and is shorter(more turns, more slowing down time).
Thats one reason written differently twice....
So it's decided that the men's race is going to be a close run thing...but what's everyone's opinion of the womens race?
Just for your info..when Thie beat Baddeley indoors it was less than 2 weeks after Baddeley broke his wrist in an indoor 800m...it was his first race with a cast on..it looked like he was protecting the wrist the whole way round and never got involved in the race..

I am good friends with Alan, he thinks he can make an attempt at the WR at NB. Supposively he just ran a tempo run of 10 miles at sub 4 pace. I think Webb is bringing american distance running to a whole new level./
you sounded like speed kills for a second there
Most people on this board like me graduated. He did one year that UM and didn't like the results so he we went pro. If he tore shit up his freshman year that would be a differnt story. Its perplexing that he couldn't handle the college competition but though he could handle the pro. He runs one or two good races a year and thats it. That would be ok if he was marathoner. But seeing how he races most of the year its not. His perfomance at Boston's Mayors cup was joke. Going to SC to break for is Dean K like. Why do I want to see him run at the New Balance games? Trolling along....

You again. So much jealousy. I keep telling myself I'll let you troll in peace, but I just cant.
Just calm down, take a breath.
You, like probably 90% of this board just wish you could spend as long as he has in college. But despite, his longer than average time in college, that does not make him a "drop out" per se. He was providing a service to the college and did exactly what was required of him. Nike made a much better offer of about 5x the value that Michigan was providing. He took them up on their offer and is much better for having done it. That's not dropping out, that's business sense.

Shhh! I know that but pearly queen probably didn't!
Baddeley seemed to have tremendous bad luck last year staying on his feet after the fall indoors and the commonwealth games incident.

Alan Webb in 2005, sets six personal bests:
2:20.32 1000
3:48.92 mile
8:11.48 two-mile (ar)
7:39.28 3000
3:32.52 1500
13:10.86 5000
Result between Thie and Baddeley
5 Andy Baddeley - New Balance 4:01.17
6 James Thie - NYAC 4:01.66
Clearly not comparable.
Could this be the year Webb runs the 3:46-47 mile. Cram may no longer be the fastest non-African miler by this August.
Just two more seconds off this mile PR and Webb is there!!!!
I am getting tired of seeing Scotts AR stand for now what amounts to a third of a life time (25years). In fact Scotts AR is the same age Webb is this year. Maybe this is a good omen for Webb. He is the age of the record he may break this year.
That is it for my Webb hype.

Doesn't that mean he has always been the same age as the record?
I was thinking the same thing when I read it
No, records count their age in "record years", kind of like dogs.
This guy deserves props for a dead on prediction!

That is why Webb is linked to Scott's American record. He will always be the same age as it. Lets hope that when Webb is on the porch in his rocking chair in 2065 that he is still not the same age as Scott's record.
My bet is that either Lagat or Webb will break Scott's record by the end of the decade. I think Lukezic will probably top off at about 3:50-3:52.
For the first time in a quarter century US mile running is getting a little interesting.

You appear to not have a clue about Alan Webb's career. You also appear to need to return to your studies based on your writing "style".

News flash: Lukezic 3:33.28 in 2006 = 3:50.low mile. Has progressed steadily for three years and is 22 years old.
