Interesting Webb newbit notwithstanding, it's very lame that someone would post up a copyrighted story in its entirety on a public board.
Ditto. That kind of stuff makes us look bad.

He's out for the season now according to Ray Flynn. Tough luck. Still, a convenient excuse it seems to me. Avoids racing in Europe.
a convenient excuse? HIS APPENDIX BURST.

this story would make a good appendix to Lear's book
Ha ha. Very good!
So it's a loong way til the end of the track season. He can't recover and get out there? Others have done so.
I'm no doctor, but to claim that Webb's appendix led to his subpar season is ludicrous, as far as I know. At most the infection started 10 days before Webb had problems. More likely five. There's no way you carry that around without having severe problems quickly. Appendicitis is sudden and quick, not long and drawn out.
Recovery: now that's a different story.
Good excuses. I don't believe it. Like I don't believe Marion ever had a baby.
I WANT TO SEE THE BURST APPENDIX WITH A SIGNED CONFIRMATION BY THE DOCTOR ALONG WITH A PHOTO'D I.D. OF THE DOCTOR NEXT TO IT!!
You guys need to get freakin' jobs. This guy can't catch a break. Geez! He's twenty! He's got a long way to go, and he will get there when he learns to ignore the pressure.
But that's okay. You guys have your fun. There'll be twenty more guys to bash by that time and none of you will ever be good enough to smell their race farts.
Jealous freakin' losers.
I AGREE. WHAT LOOSERS WHO CAN'T EVEN MAKE IT TO THE NATIONALS AND CRITICIZE WEBB ALL THE DAMN TIME. BUNCH OF PUNKS. WEBB IS AWESOME REGARDLESS IF HE RUNS A 3:53 AGAIN OR NOT HE HAS HIS OWN LIFE TO LIVE, NOT TO FUFILL YOUR F@CKING DREAMS YOU PATHETIC BASTARDS. I WISH WEBB THE BEST AND TO KEEP HIS HEAD UP WHETHER IN GOOD OR BAD TIMES. THERE IS MORE TO LIFE THAN RUNNING LIKE FAMILY AND GOOD FREINDS TO HELL WITH WHAT PEOPLE SAY JUST LIVE YOUR OWN LIFE REGARDLESS OF WHAT OTHERS SAY JUST LIKE GABE JENNINGS HE DOES HIS OWN THING. AND AS FOR YOU PATHETIC DOUCH BAGS WHO CRITICIZE WEBB ALL THE DAMN TIME SPEND LESS TIME TALKING AND MORE RUNNING AND TRY TO COTRIBUTE TO AMERICAN DISTANCE RUNNIG INSTEAD OF BRINGING ITS ATHELETES DOWN ALL THE DAMN TIME YOU SLOW BASTARDS.
PEACE AND MY BEST WISHES TO WEBB.
the thing that makes me mad is that alan webb diden't die now that woulda been worth writing a story about. he no one anymore a regualr ole guy who runs
Webb is still running sub-4 miles (3:58 at Prefontaine). He is by no means a "regular guy who runs".
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
