I heard that the distance coach at University Md - Baltimore County left. They are a D1 school near the city, but not in the city. They have an okay program, talent and a sweet track and a park nearby.
Anyone know who might be getting the job?

Well, it has not been posted yet and by law they have to post it. Ask again in 2 months!
Where would it be posted?
I talked to the xc coach and he has stepped down. It would be a head xc job, and a asst. track job. UMBC has no football team, which really helps with title 9 issues. School is located in Balt. County, Md and is right off of i 95. I don't know how many scholarships they give out or how much it pays. Don't know when or if it will be posted either.
Why did Murray step down?
It is actually a pretty good school. Lacrosse rules and basically a commuter school for your social life.
I think he was just ready to move on, and didn't like all the travel. He has talked about going back to the high school level.
Rumor has it the head coach is retiring after this year, so this could lead to bigger and better things.
Retiring???? David Bobb is very young (early 30's?).
Position going to a current NEC coach
IS the UMBC posting simply the public piece? DO the y already have a candidate?
Who is NEC?
Did the old coach retire or was he let go. I am hearing conflicting stories.
The coach himself resigned due to the fact that he wanted to have more time with his family and the way cross country/ track schedules are set up the time he had was limited. As for the position it is still open and have many qualified coaches who are interested in the job. Also to answer your question of who NEC was? It is Northeast Conference which UMBC belonged to 4 years ago before moving to AEC. UMBC itself is located 10 miles from Baltimore, 15 miles from fast growing Columbia, and between 30-45 minutes from DC. The school is right of 95 and very fast growing (12,000 students or so...) w/ interest in expanding. It has a huge Patapsco park for great training which is only mile away from the University. Great oppertunity for a new coach. If interested go to umbc.edu where u can find out contact information of the important people at the university.
