You obviously are not a graduate of ND, or know of their academic standards, especially ND's core cirriculum for all students. Compared to the other schools you mention (USC, Stanford) it is much more demanding. I recall an article from Sports Illustrated years ago (maybe 6 yrs ago) talking about ND's strick academic standards in relation to other top football programs. One of the main points of the article was how running back TJ Ducket chose Michigan State over ND because ND requires all freshmen, regardless of major, to take calculus. That is just one example. Also, ND does not offer the "fluff" courses that other schools, including Stanford, offer. I've spoke with many Stanford alumn, and could not believe some of the "fluff" courses they offered, courses that one would never see at ND. Also, before you shoot your mouth off about something you obviously have not researched, your should look at the academic workload given to ND students. If you did such research, you would never say ND is "academically, a mediocre school." It sounds as if you are a little bitter for getting rejected, maybe? I'll admit, ND's grad programs may be mediocre, but its undergrad is very, very good, and employers know and recognize this.
