well since you replied to me I thought you were trying to say I was wrong or something. Next time at least put up some analysis with the data so people know what is significant.

Who said I replied to you? I didn't even read your post. Kid, everything isn't about you.
it's in the reply-to field. make sense now?

EVERYTHING ISN'T ABOUT YOU! WHAT IS IT YOU AREN'T UNDERSTANDING?
My immediate thoughts upon reading Malmo's longer thread were, first, where do you get this stuff from? and, second, thanks so much. As to the substantive matters on this thread . . . . It's difficult to compare Z's low 59s last year with this year's Great North. Z had a very good tailwind most of the way, and most of this year's race was run into a headwind. Comparing Hall to Ritz, I do know the Great North course is harder than advertised: much of it is rolling hills. I don't know the course Hall ran on, but if one person on this thread is right that it is very fast, that has a great bearing on any comparison. My guess is that Ritz's performance is greater than Hall's (I don't think Ritz would be even a minute behind Z), but Hall ran two 10Ks 29:00 and faster, and that's noteworthy, especially for someone as unexperienced as he is on the road and for long races. Moreover, 11th in a race of that caliber is wonderful and to be lauded: he broke the American record for heaven's sake. Anyone else on this thread hold one of those? Anyone else who ever posts on this site have one of those?
no duh. but when you replied to me, and given your past behavior of trolling on the nyc thread, i thought the post was directed at me. yeah normally i dont think it means anything if someone links to the last person, but when it's you, it's hard to know what to think. now really there is no need to yell at me or hurl insults at me like you did a few posts back. keep it civil or just go back to dye stat. is that hard to do malmo? or are you just that big of a jerk. there was a simply misunderstanding, i'm willing to fess up to that on my part.

The power of Excel. You're welcome.
Yes, it quite obviously is in my estimation.

So it's an annual run on the domestic and international scene. That's proof that it's a commonly raced distance??

I guess the 12K is a commonly raced distance then.

Oh boy, look who's back, I should have seen this one coming down the pike.
Quit being so damn paranoid, the world isn't about you. You are inferring way too much, presuming that hitting the reply button not only means someone is responding to you, but that their response to you is hostile as well. When people want to append a thread they normally hit the reply button on the last post. I didn't even read your post, nor am I interested.
Solipsism is just the oblivious form of narcissism.
But not as common as 8K.
amazing job hall... keep it up and keep on glorifying HIM
Ras Tafari?
Ras Tafari was a brutal dictator, staving tens of millions as a means of suppression. He also imprisioned some of Ethiopias best runners, Mamo Wolde and Mirtus Yifter.
Probably shouldn't be glorified, then.
I have mixed feelings here. First off I feel great there's a new AR, but feel bummed a new AR was also 11th place and 1:53 off the leader and 1:13 off second place.
Hall obviously ran a smart race, pacing well (something more should learn). When you look at the leader's splits you can see he went out controlled, dropped the pack in the middle then had no one on his shoulder the last 5K.
Hall's looking good and has good potential.
malmo, this is definitely a reply to you.
Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post this kind of data on a lot of these threads. You don't need to make a point if you don't want to. Often it speaks for itself if people know what to look for.
Bummed? Have you been paying any attention the past 20+ years? The USA cannot catch back up to the best in the world in just a few or even several years. Without a more conducive environment for producing great runners, this has been and will continue to be how it will go. At least in this case it came in the context of an actual, competitive race and wasn't some preordained affair with a highly exclusionary field and rabbits to tow the designated record chaser through. Hall's speed, consistency of late, and patience bode well for his fortunes in races beyond 20k, if and when he delves into that realm.
