sorry i forgot the ratio
sorry i forgot the ratio
Just add 17 seconds, lady friend.
No, that's just the average increase. The most accurate conversion is to multipy the 1500 meter time by 1.079 It's based on the premise that any increase in distance reduces the average pace. A mile is 7.3% longer than 1500 meters, but a slight reduction in pace has to be factored in also, which is why 7.9% should be used. (You can argue endlessly on whether it should be 7.8% or 8.0%, but it is only an estimate anyway).
That's a quick rough conversion, but it only works for times in sub-4:00 mile range.
Adding 8% is a better conversion -> a 4:06 1500 is equivalent to about a 4:26 mile.

I agree w/ 4:26.
This must have been a fun run?
4:24.2
No, I just happened to be finishing my 16 miler the other day on the track and wanted to see what I could lay down. Since I entered the track at the middle of the first turn, I decided to go 1500m instead of mile since I was right at the 1500 start. Nice try though.

quite accurate
It equals to a 4:25 mile in change.
4:06=246sec. 246/15=16.4 sec per 100m segment. 4:06+16.4=4:22.4 for 1600m. Add 1.6 for Mile Conversion =4:24.

how about I use this to find an equivelent preformance from the 1500 to the 3k
would I use this method, of course not
you run a slower pace for a longer race, hence the 7.8%-8% increase, class is now over
Sorry, but if you were finishing a 16 miler up with a 4:06 1500, then you would be a good enough runner to know what your mile time would have been. So don't lie!
Actually, a 4:06 1500m equals a DNF for the mile.
Keep running.
2 different on-line calculators give: 4:24.9 (1.0768) and 4:25.2 (1.078)
Why are there so many insecure runners? All you need to bash someone to make yourself feel good? No wonder people don't like track because all the athlete's are pricks.
4:06
4x60+6=246
240/15=16.4
16.4*16=262.4
262.4-240=22.4
4:22.4 Approx.
That's horrible math.
1500m is not 15/16 of a mile it is 15/16.09 of a mile for starters.
And you are also assuming that you will continue with the exact same pace. You might as well double the mile record and to show the equivalent two mile effort.
You need to come through the 1500 a little slower.
Now if you are still in elementary school then I apologize. Nice effort.
