There are a lot more coaches employed due to Title 9. I wonder if this pushes up coaches pay.

I think small schools are noticing that FT coaches recruit more students. Thus more small schools are finally hiring FT track coaches, which is increasing salaries.

The median expected salary for a typical Assistant Coach (Minor Sport) - Higher Ed. in the United States is $35,624 This basic market pricing report was prepared using our Certified Compensation Professionals' analysis of survey data collected from thousands of HR departments at employers of all sizes, industries and geographies
*****$35,624*****.
That's the median for an assistant coach, NOT head coach (I doubt many plan on beginning at the head position)
Illinois falls about within the same range.
I would imagine, when talking strictly D1, the median pay would be higher.
The number represents all minor sports (track, tennis, swimming, etc.)
The median is about *****48,000***** for Head Coaches of minor sports

Is that right? 80 hours per week, coaching cross country and track? I never thought it would take so much time. I was thinking 40-50 max.
Also some schools with ONLY cross country and no track can pay upwards of $40k
and you only have to actually work half the year :)
interesting............
Just curious...but what about professional coaches, like at Mammoth or Hanson-Brooks? What do they earn?
Also how about club coachs like the GBTC or BAA?

Jean, it looks like you must be a coach. Can you describe what takes up so much time? I must be completely clueless.
