On the Oxford mathematics Instagram page, a mathematician says that due to the Paris Olympic track having shorter straights and longer bends (so it could fit a rugby pitch), the results are unfair.
She claims Hocker wouldn't have beaten Kerr on a standard size track due to the difference in centrifugal force involved in overtaking on the inside bend.
Obviously said in jest but an interesting idea.
