Wow i've never seen a more "Phone Salesman" looking person. I wouldn't have guessed he was good at hurdles, employee of the month maybe but doesn't look like a world class athlete at all.

He's not a niche athlete though. 7 foot high jump, 27 foot long jump, 12.8 hurdles. Guy is nasty. I hope he goes back to long - we need someone to kick our men's LJ scene into shape.
So it is great that a future World champion had to work as a cell phone salesman and toilet paper manufacturer because there aren't enough people who can make living as professional track athletes?

Oh, how glorious is track and field? A former cell phone hawker and toilet paper peddler like Cordell Tinch waltzes in, runs a 12.99 in the 110m hurdles, and snags a world title. Just fabulous. It really proves the sport’s a joke—why bother with coaching, grinding through workouts, or building any semblance of work ethic when you can just lean on your freakshow genes and win? No need for perseverance or skill; it’s just a genetic lottery for lazy prodigies to make everyone else look like chumps.

Guy was talented enough to get a football scholarship at University of Minnesota. Generally, our best athletes are playing other sports bc $$$
It is a great comeback story -- someone could make a movie out of it -- but what I want to know is WTF happened to Holloway?

Tennis players, minor league baseball players, off league soccer players, B league basketball players, swimmers, etc… make no money. It’s not just track.

Isn’t track and field absolutely the best? The reigning world record holder, Olympic champion, Worlds champion, indoor champion and most dominant hurdler of the last decade can’t win a race and we have no clue why, what’s happened, what’s up!
