Jonathan Gault wrote a feature on Tinch inn May of 2023 when he was just bursting on to the scene. From 2019 to 2023, Tinch competed in one track meet. On February 3, 2023, he competed for the just the scond time since May of 2019. Less than three years later, he's the world champ.

Wow i've never seen a more "Phone Salesman" looking person. I wouldn't have guessed he was good at hurdles, employee of the month maybe but doesn't look like a world class athlete at all.

He's not a niche athlete though. 7 foot high jump, 27 foot long jump, 12.8 hurdles. Guy is nasty. I hope he goes back to long - we need someone to kick our men's LJ scene into shape.
So it is great that a future World champion had to work as a cell phone salesman and toilet paper manufacturer because there aren't enough people who can make living as professional track athletes?
