Well, there you have it. Of course, this wont stop hundreds of others of accusing him.
Cabada, ignore these fouls and keep doing what you are doing. Not that you need an anonymous poster to tell you that.
Bump again.
Keep this on the top.
Good run Cabada.
Its just a joke fellas. To be honest Im pretty impressed with what Cabada has done and if you see what Ive said about him on the Macias thread you'll know that Im stoked about some other non D-1 guys tearin it up. I figure no one is hurt by my comments, Im sure Cabada has heard it all before. And tell me some of you didnt at least get a chuckle out of it.
Hey Punk, put your money where your mouth is and get on the track with CABADASS. He will kick your ASS
Cabada, welcome to GR. Come back any time.
That was a GREAT run !
Wow, taking stock of 3 or 4 Kenyans, taking their measure by surging and talking to them ("That was a fast mile, huh?")- awesome.
I like your style. You beat the Kenyans at their own game. They have always cleaned house in Mile 2 or 3 usually with a few 4:30's and even going to 4:20's before the Johnson Park turnaround, but this time you were in the house, and then you made them work and hurt with your surges in the last half. They don't usually plan on having company in the hills and after the hills.
Nice work, that is a courageous run. I'm glad you ran like that, and decided not to wait and see, but you took the race to them, and you made it happen. Dude, that was one of the finest road races run by an American distance runner in a while, including the fantastic performances by Americans @ Boston. You might have a problem on your hands now - you might now be overqualified for a position with the Brooks Hansons ODP ! Might have to look elsewhere, but don't overlook those guys either. Congrats on your payday too.
all i know is cabada is a stud who has worked for this his entire running career.
long time coming.
cabada deserves all the success, message board praise and acclaim that can come his way.
the kid is a stud!

Congrats to Cabada. Interesting that Let's Run in the headline has to describe a 25 km time in terms of a half-marathon to impress readers with the quality of the time. Such an explanation is necessary because people are not familiar with the 25 km distance. Too bad. Racing that distance and 30 km, hard, like Cabada and Kibet did is essential to developing racing ability in the marathon. Too bad there are not more, serious races at those distances. They would develop marathoners.
Learning to race in 5 km increments up to a marathon is....logical.
Tom
I think they put it there to put him down, because the American 1/2 record is 1 hour, 30 minutes, making his run equivalent to 90 seconds off that.

Having run that 25k and several others about 7 times I "know" what a good 25k time is, but this puts into a little better context:
1:14:21 25k = 5 x 5k @ 14:52 at even pace
OR, 2 x 10k at 29:44 + 5k at 14:52 again.
That is good running.
That is GREAT running.
Cabada should feel happy that he is being accused. You know you are running fast when the only thing people on letsrun can come up with - is must be drugs!I know how hard I train to run about 6 or 7 minutes behind him so I want to say congrats and the sky is the limit.

I thought Jerry Lawson held that record?
Anyone with the time to research that today?
Yes, that is badass. The fact he talked to them... that is priceless. Definitely a hardass.

Looks like he's got that knife fight thing behind him. Good for him.
okay then, there are no rules in a knife fight.
Bring the knife to the Kenyans! That's what we need, not pansy-ass Americans running to be top American. Race with the world! They got ugali, we got burritos. The race is on!

Fernando is clearly the collegiate distance runner of the year, if such a title exists. Here's to hoping he parlays that success into future accomplishments.
How the heck is someone still in college at 24? I had my master's degree by then, and had already been working a year. Sheesh!
the 1/2 marathon much more like a 5k than it is a marathon.
My career was not long enough to draw an awful lot of hard conclusions but, I did race at 30K on occassion before I ran my first marathon and it sure as heck was a learning experience beyond anything else I had run.
I had never thought about it much until I read you and malmo and hodge praising the merits of such race distances.
As I did reflect back though, my first marathon was much much easier and less of a mystery thanks to the 30ks. In fact I was very unimpressed with the marathon race at my first attempt. I respect it, it was challenging, but it didn't pose any surprises.
I can't believe no one has mentioned the American Record? It was set in Philadelphia in 1985 by Marc Curp (also a non D1 runner, CMSU) who ran 60:55 which was also a WR. Todd Williams once ran 60:11 but it was on a downhill course.

I went to college directly out of high school and competed as a wrestler.
Freshman year of college tore ACL and meniscus resulting in a reconstructive surgery.
It took 1 year of rehab before I could walk without a limp or even run 100 meters under 20 seconds.
Worked 1 year to pay for rehab and to save for college.
Broke vertebrae in my back at landscaping job.
9 months in body brace.-
Started running to lose weight and get back into sports.
Results:
3 years after high school healthy again and enter 2 year college to get back into swing.
1 year later I entered 4 year college
Ran my last NCAA D-2 cross county meet as a 25 year old senior,
I graduated in 2.5 years as a 26 year old.
I had eligibility remaining but opted not to use it, but I do not begrudge anyone who would.
I feel absolutely no guilt of shame at being a 25 year old senior.
If you can use running to get you into or through and educational process, freaking do it, at any age.
Good for the kid for sticking with it.
Many guys are drunk losers, married and divorced with kids by time they are 24.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
