It has been about nine years since a leak of athlete data from the Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) system occurred. This leak, which took place in 2016, implicated several top athletes across various sports, including long-distance runners. The data was reportedly hacked from databases held by anti-doping agencies, and was later made public by an entity calling itself Fancy Bears. The leak contained information on suspicious values in the biological passports of various athletes.
Several very prominent athletes identified in the leak -- Rita Jeptoo, Jemima Sumgong, and Wilson Kipsang -- have been banned for violating anti-doping rules.
Paula Radcliffe, whose marathon world records during the height of EPO use in the early 2000s are regarded by many as highly suspicious, was also mentioned.
Many other distance running stars, including several American standouts, were mentioned as "likely doping."
According to the leak, Evan Jager, Galen Rupp and Mo Farah were likely doping. Henrik
Ingebrigtsen's passport was "suspicious." Jakob Ingebrigtsen was only about 15 years old at the time and was not mentioned.
